Two-Topic Course: Helping Clients Find Their Dreams; Digital Ethics (Technology in the Workplace)
Speaker: Sherrie Ludwick

Course Description(s):

Helping Clients Find their Dreams! (AM Program)

The world of therapy often directs clinicians, to focus on a person’s problems: What’s the diagnosis? What is the presenting problem? How do we work on “fixing” the problem using a treatment plan? What if instead of focusing on the problem, we focus on the solution? This workshop takes solution-focused counseling to another level.

In this interactive 2.5 hour workshop you will learn easy tools to help your clients: identify and state life dreams (long term life goals), discover hidden strengths, and identify the key supports that are needed to successfully achieve the identified dream. When a client can meet his/her life dream or even can see a clear road to attaining that dream, many problems often fall by the wayside. Participants will examine real case scenarios and gain skills that will be useful toall areas of clinical practice.

Digital Ethics: Technology in the workplace (PM Program)

Confidentiality is a huge part of providing health care. HIPAA and ethical codes provide some guidance, but it can be confusing to understand what is being asked of us in regards to implementation of confidentiality with the use of technology.

This interactive training will help participants understand the common factors that cause breaches and how to use risk assessments to plan and implement changes that need to occur. Participants will learn how to assess, respond to, and implement changes to meet guidelines for confidentiality.

Attendees will have an opportunity to examine some of the common mistakes and potential issues, that can arise through use of technology. Small group work during this training will assist participants to develop solutions to these concerns that can be integrated into practice.

Learning Objectives (AM Program)

1. Identify strengths, supports, and dreams (life goals), and to provide motivation and clarity in the therapeutic process for both the clinician and the client.

2. Integrate a firsthand understanding of the benefit of aspirtation identification in a therapeutic setting.

3. Demonstrate how to use humanistic techniques to gain solution focused results.

Learning Objectives (PM Program)

1. Explain how to effectively manage communications through the use of technology.

2. Use risk analysis and consider possible agency expectations for implementation of new ways to create meaningful communication through technology.

3. Assess real case scenarios and gain skills that will be useful to all areas of communication through technology.
