The fourth annual Symposium will explore current academic research and community projects that address the general theme of reconciliation in America, with a special focus on the its generative value—its economic and social dimensions.
Keynote Speaker
Peter Edelman, lawyer, policy maker, and law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, specializing in the fields of poverty, welfare, juvenile justice, and constitutional law.
On the Georgetown University Law Center faculty since 1982, Professor Edelman has also served in all three branches of government. During President Clinton’s first term he was Counselor to HHS Secretary Donna Shalala, and then Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation. Earlier in his career, Professor Edelman served as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Issues Director for Senator Edward Kennedy’s 1980 Presidential campaign.
His new book, So Rich, So Poor: Why It’s So Hard to End Poverty in America, was published by The New Press in the spring of 2012.
