The Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce invites you to nominate a candidate from your school to participate in Leadership Chattooga Student Edition 2024. The purpose of this program is to provide high school juniors and seniors with a greater awareness of community issues, needs, services and resources.  Equipping our future with the tools they need to be effective and successful leaders in their chosen fields is the goal of the Chattooga Chamber of Commerce, and we appreciate your continued support to reach that goal each year.

The application process is simple, asking for basic information from both the candidate and the school which they attend. Apply by clicking the button below, or you may request an application by mail or email.

Orientation begins September 13th at 8am, and sessions will be conducted (usually) the second Wednesday of each month  (Sep-Mar; we do not meet in December). The course will begin with an orientation session conducted by Heather Casey of LeadStrong 414 and Diane Vinyard of Living Life On Target. The orientation session is required.

There will be five full-day sessions planned covering the following:

  • Leadership Development
  • Effective Communication
  • Understanding Values
  • Community Diversity
  • Collaboration
  • State Capitol Visit
  • Work Ethics
  • Team-Building Exercises

SEE THE COMPLETE SCHEDULE

This opportunity is limited to twelve high school juniors or seniors who live in Chattooga County. Based on applications received, we will pull from Chattooga High School, Trion High School, Mountain Ed and the homeschooling community.

The sessions will all begin at the Civic Center. From there, we may then visit other points of interest around the county and region. The Chamber will provide transportation when available. Participants must be able to board and travel in the county van or make arrangements to be transported in a personal vehicle. We are very sorry that we do not have a handicap accessible van at our disposal.

A one-day visit to Atlanta will be planned according to our state representative’s schedule and pertinent activities going on in the State Capitol and elsewhere in Atlanta.

Deadline to apply is August 25, 2023.

There is no tuition for our Student Edition thanks to our generous sponsors.

Participants must attend orientation and at least 4 out of 5 of the other sessions in order to graduate in April
