FEBRUARY BREAK IS UPON US: Yes its cold but we are going to push through and hold another 3 day workshop over February Break, STORYELLING WITH PHOTOS. Our emphasis will be on documentary style photo or choosing a specific word/theme/concept to create with images.
I will be holding two of the shooting trips indoors (unless it's warmer than today). Students will vote on locations such as Museum of Science, ICA, MFA and more. Class will run Monday-Wednesday 10-2:30 with pick up and drop off offered from Jamaica Plain.

PRIVATE classes or a single day birthday party class (trust me we will have fun). Get 3+ adults or children together and we can custom create your workshop experience. For birthdays, I can accomodate 7 attendees and we can also custom create a super fun day with a theme as we travel around Boston taking photos.
February Break: Storytelling with Photos
for 6th-12th (mature 5th) graders
• Monday - Wednesday February 16, 17, 18 (single days available WITH CLEARANCE)
• 10-2:30 pm, bring lunch or lunch money
• lessons & shooting daily
• CAMERAS SUPPLIED: on location photo trips using professional digital SLR cameras (Nikon D70&100)
• cost is $195 or $68 per day (single days must be cleared by Jenny first), 8x10 prints offered
• pick up/drop off shuttle offered at "the monument" in Jamaica Plain
This is a 3 day class where students learn the basics of taking great photos on professional cameras supplied by Big Picture. We will go on 3 photo excursions around Boston in the Big Picture Van, review our work, have lessons in photo technique and make friends. Big Picture offers a boutique learning expereince with a small class size of 7 and one-on-one attention from professional photographer Jennifer Connelly. The teaching space is located at 136 Ruthven Street, Boston (bordering Jamaica Plain) with pick up and drop off offered from "the monument" in JP.
BASIC AGENDA (More details closer to class time)
Day 1: Lesson in use of symbols in our imagry, camera review, photo excursion (lunch or lunch money). Photo challenge: use symbols to tell your story.
Day 2: Lesson on framing. Photo excursion (bring lunch). Editing in Lightroom. Photo challenge: crop out all UNECCESSARY objects in your photo.
Day 3: Lesson in decisive moment. Photo challenge: WAIT for something interesting to happen before snapping away. Start with a photo trip (lunch or lunch money). Return to teaching space to upload, review and transfer your photos to your USB drive. BRING USB DRIVE TO COLLECT YOUR PHOTOS!! If you dont have one, Jenny will send them to you via email after class ends.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER: Jennifer Connelly started Big Picture in 2011 to fill the gap in after school programming for middle school aged children. Since then, the program has taken off with most classes offered in the summer. Early on Big Picture added movie making. Films and photos by students can be seen on our facebook page.
