Angelface was too limiting and I am now shooting more varied work such as Public Relations and Corporate Headshots.
I am always open to running a private class or a single day birthday party class (trust me we will have fun) but for now I am offering at least one December workshop over break. This class was originally set up for students applying to BAA that needed some images for their portfolio. However, only a small number of participants last year actually applied to art school so don't let that dictate your interest. The details are below and I hope to see you all soon!
Photo 101/BAA Audition Prep
• Monday - Wednesday December 29th/30th/31st
• 10-2pm, bring lunch or lunch money
• art lessons in composition, framing, exposure, etc.
• CAMERAS SUPPLIED: on location photo trips using professional digital SLR cameras (Nikon D70&100)
• for 6th-12th graders
• cost is $195 or $68 per day (single days must be cleared first), 8x10 prints offered
• pick up/drop off shuttle offered at "the monument" in Jamaica Plain
This is a 3 day class where students learn the basics of taking great photos on professional cameras supplied by Big Picture. We will go on 3 photo excursions around Boston in the Big Picture Van, review our work, have lessons in photo technique and make friends. Big Picture offers a boutique learning expereince with a small class size of 7 and one-on-one attention from professional photographer Jennifer Connelly. The teaching space is located at 136 Ruthven Street, Boston (bordering Jamaica Plain) with pick up and drop off offered from "the monument" in JP.
AGENDA
Day 1: Lesson on the elements that make great pictures, camera use review, trip to Christian Science Center, Prudential (lunch or lunch money). Photo challenge: shoot from above, below or close up.
Day 2: Lesson on 2/3 rule, and foreground/middleground/background. Local photo shoot to Franklin Park or Centre Street (kids choice). Return to teaching space to upload and edit using Lightroom while eating lunch. Slide review of student work. (Bring Lunch).
Day 3: Start with a photo trip to Boston Common/Newbury Street. Lunch at Georgetown Cupcakes. Return to teaching space to upload, review and transfer your photos to your USB drive. (Bring money for cupcakes). BRING USB DRIVE TO COLLECT YOUR PHOTOS!! If you dont have one, Jenny will send them to you via email after class ends.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER: Jennifer Connelly started Big Picture in 2011 to fill the gap in after school programming for middle school aged children. Since then, the program has taken off with most classes offered in the summer. Early on Big Picture added movie making. Films abd photos by students can be seen on our facebook page.
