Demonstration Day
Michael will discuss his work with a slide presentation followed by several demonstrations of techniques and forms, primarily using the wheel in two very different ways to achieve non-traditional forms. First, representing much of Michael's functional l/tableware, the wheel will be used to insert chance and serendipity to forms, while still being under the ultimate control of the potter. Second, using the wheel to throw multiple pieces for construction of composite forms, will be discussed and demonstrated. We will discuss the importance of drawing and sketching in the refinement of design.
Sunday, August 10, 2014 -
10:00am - 4:00pm with a lunch break from 12:00 - 1:00pm (please provide for your own lunch)
Hands On Participation
Michael will finish forms begun the previous day and participants will be encouraged to try out some of the techniques that were discussed, including the Thrown, Faceted, and Thrown technique and composite forms built from thrown sections. The workshop will place emphasis of exploration and fun with the intent to push the participants work forward.
The workshop will be limited to 12 participants, on a first come, first served basis with a preference given to our members.
