Gedatsu Church

Gedatsu Church of America is one of the oldest Japanese Buddhist churches in Sacramento. It is located on 20 acres, a short distance from downtown Sacramento. Off the main traffic streets, it often goes unnoticed by the traveler. We are very honored by the Gedatsu congregation to have our request accepted to hold this special series of Jhado Rinpoche's events on their sacred grounds.

For the benefit of World Peace, the Kalachakra empowerment has been given many times by H. H. the XIV Dalai Lama. This July, Khensur Jhado Tulku Rinpoche, one of the few recognized Masters of the Kalachakra system to enlightenment, will give the Kalachakra empowerment and lead the retreat. This will bless Lion's Roar Dharma Center's vision to establish a monastery and retreat land to embody these precious teachings.

The Kalachakra Tantra contains the Shambhala teachings about how to realize an enlightened society and become a Buddha in this lifetime. To have these teachings made available in the Sacramento area is a a major step in showing Jhado Rinpoche our confidence in the practice.

2011 Kalachakra "Jenang" Empowerment by Khensur Jhado Tulku Rinpoche

Kalachakra "Wheel of Time"

KhalachakraSandMandalaWhat is a Jenang Empowerment?

A Jenang “permission” initiation gives permission for people to do the deity practice and visualize the Buddha-figure in front of them. A wang or “full empowerment” gives permission for people to visualize themselves as the Buddha-figure. If a person has received a prior wang empowerment in a class of tantra; such as – Kalachakra in the anuttarayoga system, and receives a jenang for another deity in that same class level, then they are allowed to also visualize themselves as that deity, without the necessity of receiving another wang for the new deity practice. For more information on the difference between jeynang and wang please refer to: Berzin Archives.
