Healthcare Retrograde from Afghanistan: Developing a Trauma System in One of the World's Most Dangerous and Medically Underserved Places
DuPage County's own James Cole, DO, is the featured speaker for the 2015 DCMS Annual Meeting. He will speak on "Healthcare Retrograde From Afghanistan."
When President Obama declared that the coalition would pull all combat troops out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014, military leaders on the ground realized that they needed to refine and develop all supported programs to be 100% self-sustaining by the Afghan Government and Afghan National Army when they left. One of the most crucial pieces to this was medical - specifically trauma care and field casualty care. The coalition had taken care of most of the Afghan National Army casualties up to that point. Doctor Cole's job - his painstakingly difficult job - included developing an Afghan Trauma System (building, equipping, training) prior to their departure.
Join us for an informative evening exploring the challenges of building a trauma sytem from the ground up.
