This *FREE* digital preservation workshop is co-sponsored by the Network of Alabama Academic Libraries and the Society of Alabama Archivists.
As institutions increasingly invest resources in the creation and acquisition of digital content, they must also commit to ensuring its integrity and accessibility over time. This preconference workshop will introduce attendees to the principles of digital preservation, based on the DPOE curriculum from the Library of Congress (http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/education/curriculum.html). Emphasis will be placed on the introductory steps of identification, selection, and storage, though presenters will also give an overview of long-term protection, management, and access.
Instructors:
*Limited free parking will be available in the parking lot at the backside of the building on Adam's Ave. More info will be sent out closer to event.
**Snacks will be served.
*** The room that the workshop will take place in stays chilly. If you tend to get cold in highly air-conditioned rooms, it is advisable to bring a light jacket or sweater.
