This class will focus on the basic principles and techniques of lapidary work - stone cutting, carving, drilling, and polishing. Participants will learn how to shape and polish stones using diamond grinders and polishers. Students also will learn where to obtain stones, equipment, and polishing media. Quality stones such as agate are provided with the class, and uncommon specimens will be available to purchase.
Must be registered one week in advance of class. A full list of optional supplies will be sent upon registration and discussed the first day of class. Museum art experiences are led by practicing artists and art educators.
Plains Art Museum reserves the right to cancel a class when the required minimum enrollment is not met. Earliest notification will be given and the participant may choose either a full refund or a Plains Art Museum credit. Participants may cancel their registration and receive a full refund/credit if notification is received by the Museum at least 10 days prior to the start of class.
