Experience the unique and important relationship that exists between literature and art! This course will cover the basic techniques of constructing graphic novels and cartoons including character design, narrative development, and cartoon illustration through various methods of drawing and sculpture.

Students will create short stories and comics inspired by works with the Museum and learn the importance of the relationship between visual and written vocabulary. Individual and group exercises will explore artistic style, prose, and themes to help ignite uninhibited thinking and build into the concepts involved in and the execution of a graphic novel. We will also discuss the contemporary functionality and evolution of the comic strip to the graphic novel in society today. Xcel Energy scholarships available. Call 701.551.6115 for more information.
