Spring Families in Business Day, May 29, 2014
PLAY BALL!
Hope springs eternal. Spend a day working ON your business and not IN your business. Join with your business peers for the spring Families in Business Day, hosted by the Family Business Initiative @ UVM. With concurrent sessions focusing on 1st Gens, business, ownership or family, there will be something for everyone.
Agenda
8:00 - 9:00 Registration, breakfast and networking
9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Kickoff Keynote
"Finding Focus - Why Does a 130 Year Old Company Need to Change?" with John A. Hillerich IV, CEO and Lawrence Writer, COO & CFO, Hillerich & Bradsby
So what would baseball be like if young Bud Hillerich had followed his father's urging and devoted his efforts to making swinging butter churns? We don't even want to think about it. Hillerich & Bradsby, aka Lousiville Slugger is now steeped in our nation's lore. As a family business, it has endured and innovated while the game has remained the same. After 120 year, it has passed through 5 generations of the Hillerich family and managed to remain true to its core business while expanding its product line. Hear the Hillerich family business story first hand from Bobby Hillerich, 5th generation family member and Lawrence Writer, the non-family COO/CFO who has helped this business find its focus once again.
10:45 - 12:15 p.m. - Concurrent workshops
12:15 - 2:00 - Lunch Keynote & Family Business Summit
"An Update on Vermont Health Connect" with Lawrence Miller, Chief of Health Care Reform.
