Topics in Ceramics: If Only Pandora’s Box had a Better Fitting Lid
Tuesdays 6:00pm-8:30pm
Lidded vessels present technical and aesthetic challenges for all potters. However, once potters achieve mastery over well-fitting lids, they can make better teapots, sugar jars, and cookie jars. This concentrated study of lids will introduce the potter to drop-lids, cap lids, and bowl lids. The session is chocked full of tips that will help you make better fitting lids. In addition to technical instruction, aesthetic considerations for lid and knob selection will be addressed. We will also have extensive discussions regarding firing and glazing techniques. This class is project driven and will allow students to take home several functional pieces. Potters should be able to center and pull 2lbs of clay. [Min. 6, Max. 8]
