CAMP Skate IA 2014 Workshop & Conference

 

We are pleased to announce our first ever Camp Skate IA Worshop and Conference for 2014 for quad and inline skaters.  Welcoming the general public of skaters to our Annual Conference allows ALL of us to advance our skills and for instructors to advance their teaching.

The conference is three days (Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Sept 12, 13 & 14) offering classes from 9:30 - 5:30pm and a dance party both Friday and Saturday nights. Attendees will be able to choose from a wide variety of skills including basics, artisitic, slalom and dance. The full schedule will be available in early September. A wide variety of instructors will be teaching the classes. Naomi Grigg will be offering slalom at several levels throughout the day.

Instructors will have a special class each day devoted to improving their teaching and building their classes as well as information on how to better market their programs.  Non Instructors will benefit from a wide variety of classes from fundamentals to more advanced moves including Basic skills, (basic & intermediate striding, backwards, gliding, edging and stopping)  Artistic (jumps, spins, three turns, etc) Slalom (pivots, slalom cone work etc), aggressive (basics for ramp skating) and dance (jam/R&B).

There will be a dance party both Friday & Saturday nights.

The first 25 people who pay for their registration will receive a pair of K2 sunglasses and K2 ear buds. Thanks to K2 Skates for their support!

There are also option to take your Level 1 Instructor, Level 2 Instructor or Slalom Instructor Certification on the Sunday evening/Monday/Tuesday following the Camp Workshop & Conference.

Prices:  we are being given the price of $85 per night which includes all meals and dorm style rooms. Meals include dinner, breakfast lunch. $85 a night for room and food is really, really cheap if you calculate hotel rooms at other events which run $175 a night. So, while planning this, you should see that it is a really good bargain. It is our goal to keep the prices super low so everyone can attend. The three day CAMP costs $165 for Non Members and $140 for members. The Certifications each cost $200 (a signficant discount).

Special price for one day is $105, includes two meals and all conference classes and dance party (no dance party on Sunday)

Special  price for two days one night is $215, includes five meals, two full days of conference (six classes and dance party) and Tshirt.

Full CAMP:
 $85 per night includes meals
 $140 for conference, includes all classes and dance parties. You can come Thursday and stay until Monday and skate on those days as well, so five full days.

Important Travel Information

Camp Winadu is approximately 45 minutes driving time from Albany Airport; 90 minutes from Hartford, Conn, 2.5 hours driving from Logan Internation/Boston and 3 hours driving time from NYC airports. All of these airports have a bus or Amtrac options...however, you will shuttle (usually 15 minutes) from the airport to the Port Authorities to catch the bus or Amtrak. 

We are, however, going to try to coordinate driving in from the area airports-match you up to drive, or pick up someone so we can get you all to the location easily. Please make sure you let us know your travel arrangements as soon as you know. Arrive early enough on Thursday to catch our shuttle!  

We will set up a grid of arrival times for all of you so we can assist you with your travel from the airport to the location if you are flying in.

Three nights or Four nights?
The conference starts on Friday morning, so please consider arriving on Thursday and we'll have a chance to skate and play throughout Thursday as everyone arrives. Some of you may live close, so you can drive in Friday morning. Registration starts at 9am on Friday, the first session will start at 10am.

Arrive anytime from early morning to early afternoon  on Thursday into NY/CN/MA and it should work out easily. Conference attendees can arrive anytime on Thursday and we'll be waiting for you.  Conference classes run Friday/Saturday/Sunday.  Your lodging is covered for either 3 nights(Fri/Sat/Sun nights), or 4 nights (Thurs/Fir/Sat/Sun). If you are adding a certification, then you can purchase the Certification at a reduced price ($225 for Level 1 and $200 for Level 2) plus two nights lodging and food at $85 per night. All these options are available when you register.
