Women's Resource Center in Alamance County presents
LEADING THE WAY
Keynote Speaker: Freebird McKinney
Women's Resource Center in Alamance County invites you to attend "Leading The Way", a special evening to support and celebrate our 6th Annual Women's Leadership Award Event.
Why is a man the keynote speaker for a Women's Leadership Award Event? Because, Freebird McKinney is A Village Teacher. Having been a North Carolina State Teacher of the Year, he has had the blessing and honor of educating and inspiring countless young men and women inside and outside of the classroom, both in public high schools currently at Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, NC and at Elon University as a School of Education adjunct professor.
Freebird McKinney is the Coordinator for Community Outreach and a resource for a multitude of state committees and organizations including the NC State Board of Education, NC Whole Child and Interagency Committee, NC LatinX/Hispanic Educational and Economic Workforce Development Committee. He is a bridge builder with multiple groups addressing leadership in our community.
Freebird engages students in the "Hero's Journey" using history, philosophy, anthropology, and sociology helping his students uncover their own individual story and connecting it to the story of "What Does It Mean To Be Human?"
Join us on November 7th for "A Shero's Journey".
