DSM-5 Update Workshop

Development of the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, released in May, 2013, has not been without controversy, even after release.  It contains some major changes in diagnostic criteria.  Even more important, the new edition includes the most significant conceptual changes in the approach to the classification and diagnosis of mental disorders since release of the third edition in 1980.  This 3-hour workshop will review some of the major conceptual changes, as well as some of the most significant changes to specific disorders.

Learning objectives:

Participants will know about the increased emphasis on the   dimensional element in diagnosis and classification.

Participants will know about the increased emphasis on assessment in DSM5

Participants will know about the use of diagnostic spectra and clustering in DSM5.

Participants will know about the increased emphasis on developmental perspectives in DSM5.

Participants will know about changes to some specific diagnoses and diagnostic clusters in DSM5.

The cost of this workshop is $30 and 3 CEUs will be provided for Professional Counselors and Social Workers only.  A light breakfast will be provided.
