The East Bay multi-family housing market is hot!  Average rents have spiked 71% over the past three years in some cities.  While a few major multifamily projects are under construction or in the pipeline, demand for rentals is expected to continue to surge.  Many observers are looking at the smaller in-fill projects to address demand, especially for affordable housing.

Join us on the morning of September 21st as we take a closer look at this market. We’ll take a broker/investor perspective as our panel of experts examines new construction, rehab, financing, rent control and other topics relating to this vibrant subject.

There will be opportunities to network with a score of commercial real estate professionals.

All commercial real estate professionals and government officials are welcome.

Featured Panelist

John Protopappas, President and CEO, Madison Park

As one of the pioneers of work/live housing development in Oakland, John Protopappas has transformed many neglected properties into safe and livable spaces. Madison Park, which he founded in 1985, reflects his visionary approach through such projects as:  such as, Telegraph Lofts at the site of the former Sears Roebuck store, Lampwork Lofts at the site of the former General Electric lamp manufacturing facility and Bakery Lofts at the site of the former Remar Bakery.

Under Protopappas’ leadership, Madison Park has become known as one of the few real estate developers able to construct new market-rate housing during down cycles. He is credited with creating over $400 million of value through MPF’s real estate investment, development and management proj
