He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and daughter.

orphanage

The Aama Orphanage Education Foundation (AOEF) is a not-for-profit and non-government registered community-based organization in Nepal. With the assistance of Ruby and Suren Shrestha, it was established in 2007 by the residents of Khandbari Bazaar to address low literacy rates among orphan children of Eastern Nepal, giving priority to girls.

To help fund AOEF, Suren
donates all profits from the sale of his book "Learn to Heal with Singing Bowls", as well as a large percentage of the proceeds from his healing workshops.

AOEF Activities

Through a number of programs, AOEF aims to assist the children of Nepal, improve their educational outcomes and become confident and self-sufficient members of their community.

Some of their key programs and activities include:

  • Educational Sponsorship Program - select a child to sponsor through school
  • Educational Scholarship Program – scholarships are created through the Himalayan Sound and Vibrational Healing Workshop
  • Orphaned Children Rescue Program
  • School Support Program - aims to secure and distribute teaching materials to teachers at local schools
  • Library Support Program - targeting the Surya Boarding School
  • Professional Development Workshops - to enhance local teaching skills.
