Leading in a Changing Church

This workshop prepares you to anticipate the challenges of leading in a changing church and to effectively handle the difficult conversations involved. Whether you’re starting a new ministry, managing a growing ministry, or helping bring closure to a ministry, the skills and strategies covered in these sessions will help you handle critical discussions with grace and confidence.

To prepare for the workshop, participants will read two classic Harvard Business Review articles on change management and submit real-life scenarios about change and the difficult conversations involved. In the workshop we will study the scenarios, apply frameworks for leading change and preparing for critical conversations and role-play the conversations with feedback and coaching.

Steven Tomlinson

Faculty: Dr. Steven Tomlinson, Visiting Professor of Leadership Formation and Vocational Pedagogy at Seminary of the Southwest.

Steven’s experience of faith and life in the Episcopal Church, his background in business teaching and consulting, and his gifts in theatrical improvisation situate him perfectly to lead this kind of class.
