Problems in Mathematics

Audience: Grades K-4 ~ Special Educators ~Title 1 ~ Para-educators

Participants will gain an in-depth experience with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers using the most efficient strategies and models. This workshop will focus on: 

Addition and substraction

Introduction to multiplication and division of whole numbers

Using the empty number line to develop comprehension of whole numbers

 

Professor Sharma will address the following questions:

What do you consider basic arithmetic skills? 

Is it ever too late to learn arithmetic facts? 

How to you develop math fluency?

What is the best sequence for learning addition facts?

 

Professor Mahesh Sharma is the former President and Professor ofMahesh

Mathematics Education at Cambridge College. He is the founder and President of the Center for Teaching/Learning Mathematics of Wellesley, MA. Internationally known for his ground-breaking work in mathematics education, he is an author, teacher, trainer, researcher and consultant to public and private schools.
