10:15      Advance Imaging - Salivary Gland Imaging (Ms Fiona Carmichael) Aims/Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

  • To become aware of the variety and techniqes of imaging salivary glands
  • To discuss appropriate image modalitiies for symptoms

11:30      Salivary Gland Tumors (Mr Steven Crank, Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant) Aims,Objectives/Learning Outcomes: TBC

12:15       Salivary Gland Disease (Jiten D Parmer, Oral and Maxillofacial Registrar) Aims/Objectives/Learning Outcomes: By the end of this 45 talk the audience should have a brief undertanding of benign salivary disease, its management and treatment options available to patients.

14:00       Controversies in Oral Surgery - A personal opinion (Miss D Keshani) Aims/Objectives/Learning Outcomes: A personal opinion on areas where there is conflict or controversy in the practice of Oral Surgery. This talk aims to challenge and stimulate thinking, reflecting on ones own practice and the specialty as a whole. It examines guidelines and recommendations for practice and what impact these may have on the patient. You will encourage reflection on where we can make effective changes for the benefit of our patients.

15:00       Medical Emergencies (Dr Julie Burke, Oral Surgery Consultant) Aims/Objectives/Learning Outcomes: This talk aims to describe

  • Some common diseases encountered by the public
  • Principles of management in diseases
  • Strategies to prevent systemic complications of treatments

Outcomes:

  • Discuss principles of management of medically compromised patients
  • Discuss a strategy for the prevention of complications
  • Describe the management of medical emergencies
