Senior High Retreat

The Senior High Youth Cabinet invites Senior High Youth (9th-12th grades) from the ANE District to the Winter Retreat at Camp Swatara!

FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE

Eric Landram, pastor at Lititz Church of the Brethren, is back as our speaker to explore this great topic.  Paul McBride and band will lead us in music and worship.  This year we are offering insight sessions that will cover important issues like human trafficking, music and media, and body image. There will also be an Advisor only session.  In addition there will be games, food and great people to connect with.  On top of all of that, we are planning for a TALENT SHOW and LIP SYNC BATTLE and we need you to make that happen!

TALENT SHOWDo you have talent?   Please come and share it with us on Saturday night!  You will be able to sign up on Friday night, the youth cabinet will prepare the order and that list will be posted on Saturday morning.

LIP SYNC BATTLESo maybe you don’t have the best singing voice out there, that’s ok!  Prepare a song yourself or with your youth group and lip sync it for us on Friday night.  Please email me your song choice by the Wednesday before Retreat, January 18th.  We will have it ready to go for you on Friday!

  • Please remember that you are in a Christian retreat setting and plan appropriately for these activities.

INSIGHT SESSIONS
Every other year we offer insight sessions at retreat.  These are basically mini-sessions that deal with more specific aspects of the theme for the weekend.  You will get to choose one for Saturday morning and a different one for Saturday afternoon.  There will be a time on Friday night of retreat to sign up for the sessions.  The following will be your choices:

  • Human Trafficking —  Presented by  Women at Risk
  • Self- Portrait— A creative look at yourself— Presented by members of the youth cabinet
  • Music & Media— Presented by Ryan Arndt
  • Body Image— Presented by Sue Eikenberry, co-pastor at Mt. Wilson CoB
  • Advisors Only— Presented by Ed Haldeman.  A time to connect, network, talk about NYC, and anything else that may be on your mind as you minister to youth.

Registration Details: Cost: $100 per youth; $60 each per first two advisors ($100 for additional advisors). Please make every effort to have a male and female advisor if you have both male and female youth attending.

DEADLINE: Thursday, January 5. This allows Camp to prepare the right amount of food for us, so please be respectful of this date.  No refund after January 11.  There is no guarantee of a t-shirt if you register after the deadline.

What-to-Bring: Friends, advisors (one per gender, please), appropriate clothing (indoor and outdoor), something soft to sit on for  sessions, personal care items including a towel, sleeping bag, pillow, notebook, health forms

Not-to-Bring: Items NOT permitted: Anything deemed “illegal” such as: drugs, alcohol, any item construed as a weapon, or any other items which may perceivably jeopardize the health, safety, or well-being of the group. Such items will be confiscated by adult leaders. Confiscated items will be considered as forfeited property. Any return of suitable property (after the retreat)  will be at the sole discretion of adult leadership.  To prevent either loss or theft, participants are urged not bring electronic gadgetry.  If you choose to bring something electronic to retreat, please keep devices in your cabin and do not bring them into sessions.  If you use a Bible app, please bring the written Word along for this retreat.
