Socket Grafting  8:30 a.m. - Noon
As dentists, we hear a lot about implants, sinus lifts and ridge grafting. Extraction socket preservation has not been given the attention it deserves.  Unfortunately for our patients, most of us are not grafting extraction sites to preserve the alveolar bone.  This course will help answer questions about the socket grafting procedure, learn which instruments to use and learn NEW grafting technologies.  The goal of this course is to give you the tools to be able to graft all your future extractions.  The key is to get started!  Socket grafting is the right thing for your patients and it's good for your practice.  After this course you will be able to perform socket grafting in your practice.

In this course you will learn:

• how to select proper instruments for successful grafting
• proper selection of biomaterial 
• techniques to minimize surgical complications
• various suturing techniques and their indications

Intro to Implants  1-4:30 p.m.
Historically, general practitioners have referred their patients to specialists for implant placement.  Minimizing these referrals can drastically improve practice health and serve a broader demographic of patients. Attendees will have an introduction to the principles of successful implant placement, learn about proper case selection, and learn how to manage complications. We will discuss proper osteotomy drilling protocols that are valid across all implant systems. Additionally, attendees which have an introduction about how to assess implant features and design, as well as learn to determine proper sizing for various clinical indications. This course will get you started on your journey to successful implant placement and restorations by introducing you to:

• Basic principles of implantology
• Immediate placement of implants after extractions
• Splitting ridges to be able to place implants into narrow bone
• Using locator attachments to stabilize loose dentures
• Lifting the sinus membrane when needed through both a crestal and lateral approach

Sam Huckabee, D.D.S. 
Dr. Sam Huckabee graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Biology before earning his dental degree from the university’s dental college in Kansas City in 1995. Dr. Huckabee has extensive dental implant training, having studied under both Dr. Dennis Tarnow and Dr. Stephen Chu at the NYU College of Dentistry.  Dr. Huckabee continues his education yearly and is a dental implant course instructor.

Dr. Huckabee is a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and holds diplomate status with this group. Dr. Huckabee met is wife and practice partner, Dr. Melanie Huckabee, in dental school and they began working together in 1996. In 2001, they purchased a dental practice. The couple are proud parents to five beautiful children.

Michael Wehrle, D.D.S.
Dr. Michael Wehrle graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1989.  He immediately took a GPR at Worchester City Hospital and the University of Massachusetts Hospital.  This began his constant pursuit of dental excellence through continuing education and resulted with him becoming a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry while completing over 500 hours of continuing education in both orthodontics and implants.  Dr. Wehrle is an Associate Fellow of the American Association of Implant Dentistry and a member of the Amercian Dental Association, American Orthodontic Society and Academy of General Dentisty. 

Dr. Wehrle feels strongly about giving back to our fellow man.  He helped found and is chairman of the Northeast Clinic for under-priveleged children.  This clinic has served the needs of school children in the mid-cities of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area at no cost for 20 years.  He established Ultra Modern Dental Group- a modern, full-time, eight operatory clinic in Puebla, Mexico which serves those in need.  He used this amazing facility to establish the Wehrle Implant Immersion Course in 2014.
