Do you like big fish? Do you like free stuff? Do you want to remember what your backing looks like? Does sight fishing get you excited? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you came to the right place so ditch the trout rod for the next few weeks and join us in the hunt for Carp.
The Portland Orvis Carpocalypse is back for the 4th year in a row and this year it's better than ever. Here are the nuts and bolts of this years event:
1. It’s a fly fishing tournament so you have to catch them on a fly rod with a fly; no bait, scent, bows, spear guns or anything else that’s not fly fishing.
2. All pictures must be posted on Instagram and tagged #carpocalypse2015 @orvisportland @johnmontanacarp @carp_pro @scientificanglers @costasunglasses. Or on facebook on the Orvis Portland page.
3. Entrants may fish anywhere they want during the tournament and as long as photos are submitted as stated above.
4. The challenges are open for submission from 12:01 am pacific time June 13th until midnight on June 28th and all photos must be taken between those dates. Challenge photo submisions must contain this year’s official Carpocalypse logo. Print it out, have it on your phone, even tattooed on your body; we don’t care how you carry it with you but it must be there. The official logo is available at the bottom of the sign up page. The four challenges and the prizes associated with them are:
i. Best release shot- 9ft 8wt H2 rod
ii. Best Carp mustache – 9ft 8wt Recon fly rod
iii. Favorite fish flop – Hydros Large Arbor IV reel
iiii. Best one hand hold – A day of Carping with John Montana
6. All challenges will be judged by the sponsor of the challenge and all decisions will be final. All judges decisions will be made within 48 hours of the closing of the challenge and all winners will be announced on the Orvis Portland Facebook and Instagram pages.
7. All winning pictures will be checked against the list of entrants before they are announced; people may sign up to participate in the tournament while the tournament is in progress so have your friends sign up before submitting their pictures.

Update on the in store kickoff: We will have Pizza, Beer, Soda, Carp talk, and we will have a half dozen vices set up and all the stuff to tie hybrids with John Montana. See you in the shop at 7pm.
