"The Physicians Health Program represents a huge step forward in protecting Georgia patients and encouraging physician wellness. Physician health is reflected in quality of care for patients. The Georgia Board of Medicine takes its responsibility to assure Georgia citizens receive safe, effective, appropriate care very seriously. The board has worked diligently to establish a Physician Health Program with the highest standards of both physician wellness and patient safety."                                                                                                        -  Jean R. Sumner M.D. with the GA Composite Medical Board.

"This is a very exciting time for the addiction medicine community in Georgia.  With years of hard work, our goal of a premier physician health program to serve our physician patients is now being realized.  As in other states, our program will promote the wellness of our physicians, provide for public safety, and set the standards of care for all suffering from the disease of addiction or mental illness.  Please join us by supporting our effort to develop and grow the Georgia Professional Health Program."                                        - Steven M. Lynn MD, Director of Impaired Professionals Program, Ridgeview Institute

"Physician Health Programs, by design, ensure the health of the physicians they serve. More importantly, physician health programs leverage the health of the patients those physicians care for. Healthy physicians create healthy lives for everyone.

In Georgia, we have never had a Physician's Health Program. Now, however, the time is upon us. Recent legislation combined with an increased interest on the part of the Georgia Composite Medical Board in Georgia has established the framework for a Physician's Health Program in our State. Physicians who suffer from substance abuse or other psychiatric disorders have the opportunity of obtaining confidential, managed, and monitored care. This unique combination allows physicians confidential access to appropriate treatment and ensures that treatment occurs. As a result, everyone in our State will benefit.

Please assist us in the formation of our Physician Health Program. Due to current budgetary constraints, there are no State or Federal dollars going to this desperately needed service. We must rely upon your generosity to provide the seed funding necessary to begin such a program. Please consider giving, or, at the very least asking more questions to help with this project for the health and safety of all Georgians."        - Paul H. Earley, M.D., Medical Director, Talbott Recovery
