Lunch Presentation: Introduction to Integrated Project Delivery through Autodesk AEC Headquarters

An introduction to IPD through a discussion of one of Tocci’s IPD projects: the Autodesk AEC Headquarters in Waltham, MA. KlingStubbins, Tocci and Autodesk utilized an IPD agreement to deliver a project that exceeded expectations. The Autodesk AEC Headquarters was completed, from no design to Certificate of Occupancy, in 8 months with zero non-discretionary change orders. To date, the project has won over 15 awards, including the 2009 AIA Technology in Architectural Practice BIM Award and the 2009 International Interior Design Association Best Office Award. Seminar: Integrated Project Delivery Constructs – How It Really Works
Monday, November 14th, 1:15 pm -3:30 pm, Sheraton Uptown Hotel
The seminar will dive into each of IPD’s required principles, so that participants understand the mechanisms behind the contract form. The principles are self-reinforcing and together enable a set of behaviors that create successful projects. The seminar will largely be based on the Hanson Bridgett, LLP form of agreement; although, the AIA and ConsensusDOCS forms will be referenced. Several IPD projects and negotiations will be included as case studies, including the Autodesk AEC Headquarters and the Marlborough Hospital Cancer Pavilion. Participants will be able to:
Speaker: Laura Handler, LEED ® APDirector of Virtual Design and Construction
Laura Handler manages the staff and workflow ofthe Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team. She develops policies and standards for use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software and protocols for BIM development and management. Laura guides Tocci’s projects ensuring thatmaximum ROI for BIM Implementation is obtained. Laura also manages innovation and R&D, testing and optimizing new and existing technologiessuch as laser scanning, BIM for facilitiesmanagement and code-checking. Apart from her roles at Tocci, Laura is considereda national Leader in BIM, serving as a keymember of the AFC BIMForum, an organization dedicated to “making BIM work now”. She is the chairperson of the Boston Revit Users Group and serves as a liaison to the AIA Contract Documents Committee’s Task Group C, which focuses on digital practice documents including the AIA E202. Laura frequently presents on the VDC departmentand Tocci’s use of this transformative practice having presented locally and nationally to the AIA and AGC, as well as serving as an instructor for the AGC BIM Accreditation program.
