This is a presentation on tablet and capsule manufacturing will provide a clear understanding of the key elements of formulation technique, granulating methods, blending, setup & operation of the tablet press, tablet coating technologies and encapsulation. We will focus on the role and value of excipients used wisely in dietary supplement formulations. We will cover key GMP updates and apply con-cepts for a risk based HACCP-style approach to product safety.

Key points will be:

Understanding ingredients: controlling particle size, moisture content, bulk & tapped density, order of addition, blend uniformity, and sampling. Granulating basics, and advanced technologies: traditional methods, fluid bed, and high shear machine technologies, and how to make the right kind of granule. Blending for success on the tablet press and getting the most out of the press, coating and encapsulation. We will also address key GMP issues with updates from the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA and how to use the HACCP-style evaluations to quality component suppliers and investigate quality issues.
