Join NECWA for our first Ocean Exploration Cruise 2016 on Saturday, October 1, 2016. This full day, offshore adventure is an annual fundraising event for NECWA. NECWA is an all-volunteer non-profit so all proceeds go to support our many projects and activities through the purchase of equipment and supplies.

This cruise is similar to our Seabird & Whale Tales Excursion that has been offered by NECWA since 2005. Similar to previous trips, we will be heading offshore to view whales, seabirds, and other marine wildlife as well as sample aspects of the marine environment.

New in 2016, our  "Ocean Exploration Cruise" will place more emphasis on the marine environment and the importance of a healhty environment to the survival of all marine wildlife.  Two or three times over the course of the trip we will be stopping to collect information on the marine environment and will survey "hotspots" in the vicinity of wildlife and in areas where wildlife are not that noticable. This information will be provided to researchers in the New England area to help them better understand the intricacies of the marine environment and the changes that are occuring due to climate change and other stressors on the marine ecosystem.
