Oppositional defiant disorder is a pattern of disobedient, hostile, and defiant behavior toward authority figures. It is more common in boys than in girls and affects approximately 20% of school-age children. Behaviors associated with ODD may appear as early as the preschool years but typically present by 8 years of age. This workshop will review the symptom presentation commonly observed in children with ODD, related social impairments, and therapeutic recommendations for both the child and the family as well as recommendations for the school setting. This workshop is designed for teachers, CST and administrators.
