The Region VII Management Acceleration Program (MAP) is a training program that provides Head Start/Early Head Start Directors and Managers with a solid foundation of Head Start principles and management practices in each of the Head Start content areas. The purpose of MAP is to introduce the Management Systems Wheel and support Head Start Leaders in understanding their new role and how it integrates within the system as a whole. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to network with professionals in similar roles and take insights back to their leadership team to enhance program implementation.

Who is MAP designed for?

MAP is designed for Head Start management and administrative staff. Those who may benefit from the training include: Directors, Management Staff, as well as Executive Directors and other leadership (including Fiscal and Human Resources staff) who support the Head Start program. Participants will receive a high-level overview of components of Head Start and gain a deeper understanding of how integration and coordination across the program are essential to provide quality services for children and families. With limited registration, priority will be given to those in their current position for two years or less.

Objectives: Participants will:

1. Review Office of Head Start Prorities and Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) as part of professional practice in delivering and monitoring Head Start services to children and families.

2. Increase awareness of program planning and its relationship to integration of services, systems, and comprehensive program management.

3. Identify content areas and resources to support the delivery of quality services for children and families.

4. Develop relationships with peers in similar positions at other Head Start programs.

Added Benefits:

In addition to building a peer network, 2024 MAP participants will have the opportunity to hear from the Region VII Office of Head Start and interact with  the Region VII Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Team and the Region VII Head Start Association.

MAP participants will engage in a variety of interactive virtual learning experiences that include include formal presentations, introduction to resources, small group breakout sessions and much more all designed to assist the participant in further navigating the complex world of Head Start while building on each individuals professional development.
