The Missouri Office of Prosecution Services will be hosting an Advanced Trial Advocacy School on November 7-9, 2016, in Jefferson City. This will be first in an annual series of advanced trial advocacy trainings which will focus on a different specialized topic each year.
This class will be an opportunity to for experienced prosecutors to refine their skills. This year's Advanced Trial Advocacy School will focus on best practices and strategies in family violence prosecution and trial advocacy. Students will hear presentations on charging decisions, effective communication, pretrial practice, voir dire, direct of the victim, expert witness, selection, prep & direct, cross of defense witnesses, sticky issues and closing argument. Students and faculty will participate in a small group brainstorming session over a family violence fact pattern. Students will also be assigned short practical exercises in advance, to be demonstrated and obtain feedback throughout the course, in order to explore new techniques for the best possible trial practice.

Lodging & Meals:
Participating jurisdictions are responsible for the cost of lodging and meals. A block of rooms has been reserved from November 6 through 9, at the Doubletree Hotel in Jefferson City at a the state government rate of $89.00 per night.
