2012 Basic Prosecutor Training 

The Missouri Office of Prosecution Services will be hosting the 3rd annual Prosecutor Bootcamp on Febuary 23-24, 2012, at the Governor's Office Building in Jefferson City.  This course is intended for newer prosecutors and will cover the basics of handling a criminal case.  Experienced prosecutors from around the state will discuss topics to include:  the role of the prosecutor, special ethics of prosecutors, technology in the courtroom, developing the case theory, charging decisions, how to write search warrants, plea negotiations, depositions, pre-trial motions, special considerations in the DWI case, handling domestic violence cases, and an overview of Prosecutor by Karpel.  There will also be a panel of judges presenting Tips from the Bench for young lawyers.

The registration fee for this course will be $100.00, payable by check made out to the MOPS Revolving Fund.  Participating jurisdictions will be responsible for the cost of travel to and from Jefferson City, meals other than lunch on Feb 23, and lodging.  Parking at the Governor's Office Building and lunch on February 23 will be provided.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Capitol Plaza Hotel at a rate of $79.00 per night, plus tax if applicable.  Attendees may arrange for lodging by calling the hotel at 800-338-8088 or 573-635-1234, be sure to ask for the MOPS block to secure the $79.00 rate.  Reservations must be made before January 23, 2012, in order to secure this rate.
