Looking for Outstanding Youth Volunteers who have demonstrated a commitment to the community The Arc of Tri-Cities is searching for youth ages 15 to 21 who want to make a difference in a child’s life. Through the efforts of youth volunteers, The Arc is able to offer more children with disabilities a chance to participate in summer fun activities.
Desired Attributes in an LIT
- Proven experience volunteering in our community
- Ability to attend training
- Demonstrated leaership, compassion, and maturity
- Ability to interact with assigned campers during swim and play times
- Ability to address personal care needs of assigned campers
- Pass a Washington State background check
- Commitment to keep The Arc standards in dress and language
Benefits for all selected LIT'S
- Extensive training on disabilites, communication, behavior management, team work and leadership development.
- Hands on experience leading and teaching a group of youth participants.
- An Educatonal Stipend after successful completion of committed camp weeks, attendance, at all trainings and written essay at the conclusion of volunteering.
Lit's can choose the age group and the time commitment they want to make to the camp. Opporunities include the following:
Junior PNP
- 5 week camp serving children ages 2-7
- Camp hours 9:00am to 11:30am - Monday- Thursday
- Training day is Thursday- June 29
- Educational Stipend is $125 for a 3 week commitment
Partners n Pals
- 8 Week camp serving ages 8-21
- Training will be afterschool the week of June 12th and possiblity June 10th or June 17th
- Camp begins June 19th
- Camp Hours 10:30am-2:30pm Monday-Friday
- Educational Stipend $275 for 3-week commitment or $325 for 4 weeks

How do I apply?
- Complete the online application or turn in paper application to The Arc of Tri-Cities no later than by June 3rd
- Bring a letter of recommendation with you to the interview or attach to the application.
- The last day applicants will be notified if they have been selected is by June 9th
- We have 51 openings this summer for Partners N Pals and Junior Partners N Pals
How are Leaders In Traning (LITs) selected?
- LITs are selected based on ability to serve campers, attend all trainings, fulfill committed time requirements, and service experience.
- All applicants will be interviewed and eligibility determined prior to camp training dates.
What if I want to volunteer more weeks?
- Selected LITs are more than welcome to sign up for additional weeks on a volunteer basis. The Arc of Tri-Cities is only able to offer one stipend per individual during the summer session.
What other requirements should I be aware of?
- All LITs are responsible for their own trainsporation to and from The Arc of Tri-Cities offices
- Failure to show up on committed days will require make-up-days to be served, to be approved in advance by the Site Director
- All LITs are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to the begining of camp every day at their assigned site
- Partners N Pals LITs must attend a weekly Monday Morning Meeting at the Arc of Tri-Cities offices at 8:15am
- LIT's are asked to write a one page essay on their experience
- Stipends are awarded after completion of committed weeks and receipt of a one page essay
- LIT's are required to turn in Essays before their last day of service and no later than August 11th
Insurance
It is the responsibility of every individual, their parent or legal guardian to provide for his/her own accident and health coverage while participating in all The Arc of Tri-Cites acitvities.
The Arc of Tri-Cities does not provide any accident or health coverage for it's participants and/or volunteers.
