Partners N Pals 2015 

The Arc of Tri-Cities offers a local summer day camp for kids with developmental disabilities that include Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Autism. This is an opportunity for youth ages 11 and up to help other kids with and without disabilities interact and have fun while volunteering in their community.

Who: Ages 11 and up, Where: Camps located in Tri-Cities, When: Minimum of one week commitment during the dates of June 22, and August 19, Why: Opportunity to serve as a mentor, Develop futrure job skills, Meet new people in a fun environment, Make a difference while helping others!!

Contacting the Camp

  • Site Directors are responsible for day to day operations of their camp, They will be in their offices starting June 15th, Phone Extensions- Ext 152 Site Directors, Ext 105- Donna Tracy - Program Director, Ext 152 Transportation

Lunches

  • Volunteers are responsible to provide their own lunch, snack and drink
  • Lunches must be labeled with name of volunteer
  • No refrigeration available

Refund Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing and include the date sent, the dates being cancelled, a brief explanation and a parent/guardian signature. Full refunds will be given if notice is given the week prior to scheduled volunteer dates.

Volunteer Cost- $16.00 Per Week

The Arc of Tri-Cities summer camp "Partners N Pals" participates in a variety of activities including, swimming, bowling and crafts. The expense of the activities are averaged into a weekly fee plus the cost of T-shirt

How much do I have to commit to?

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Partners N Pals program, They provide friendship, acceptance, fun, and increase safety for our campers. Most of all they fulfill a vital need in offering kids with developmental disabilities the ability to participate in a summer camp experience. We require a one week commitment, with no limit on how many additional weeks you may volunteer. After registration, if you would like to volunteer for additional weeks that positions are available, we look forward to you continuing your experience with our campers.

Insurance

It is the responsiblity of each individual, their parent and/or legal guardian to provide their own accident and/or health coverage, while participating in all The Arc of Tri-Cities activites. The Arc of Tri-Cities does not provide any accident and/or health coverage for its participants and/or volunteers and assumes no liability and/or responsibility during participation.

Swimming

Partners N Pals kids swim daily. Swimming occcurs in public pools. The following will be required:

  • Swimsuits need to be modest and durable (once piece for girls or tankinis with no stomach showing)
  • No Cutoffs
  • Swimsuits must be lined- Swimming pools require boys swimsuits to have a liner
  • Volunteers must be prepareed to swim daily

Requirements

Volunteers must meet the following requirements in order to participate:

  • Be committed to helping kids with developmental disabilities
  • Be a positve mentor and role model
  • Age 11 years or older
  • Make a minimum of a one week commitment
  • Pass a Washington State Partrol Background check
  • Register on-line and sign Releases and Background Checks
  • Pass the Partners N Pals volunteer training.

All volunteers  MUST  attend Volunteer Training before they will be allowed to participate at camp. This training includes:

  • Disabilities
  • Calendar of Activities
  • Volunteer Job Description
  • Standards and Values
