  • Community Action Agencies (CAAs) are nonprofit private and public organizations established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty. Community Action Agencies help people to help themselves in achieving self-sufficiency.
  • CAAs are a primary source of direct support for the more than 34.5 million people who live in poverty in the United States.
  • In North Carolina there are 4489 Community Action Employees and 42 Community Action and Limited Purpose Agencies.
  • Nationally, there are approximately, 1000 Community Action Agencies serving 96 percent of America's counties.

The North Carolina Community Action Association’s 2013 Annual Conference will offer community action agencies and nonprofit leaders tangible skills and strategies to alleviate poverty in North Carolina’s communities.

Over 500 Community Action Agency staff (Head Start, Weatherization, CSBG, etc...), human services providers and nonprofit leaders will be in attendance.
