Father's First Steps
Presented by Wellspring New Parents Services

(Note: This workshop asks that you bring their 0-9 month old baby to class with you.)

Father's First Steps Service Agreement

Purpose
A dynamic workshop for new fathers and their babies, Father’s First Steps Join helps new dads to discover their unique relationship with their child and the importance of father-to-baby bonding. Fathers leave confident in their ability to nurture their baby and discover and learn techniques to foster this attachment.

We want to make sure you understand that Father’s First Steps is not individual, couples, or group therapy. This workshop is not for fathers in need of greater services than a multi-day psycho-educational workshop can provide. This workshop is not a baby-care class.

Length of Workshop/Cancellation Policy
This workshop meets for six consecutive Fridays from 2:30-4:00pm. This workshop is completely voluntary and you are free to terminate your participation at any time. However, if you cancel less than 1 week prior to the beginning of the workshop or do not attend, you will be charged the workshop fee of $120 or your EAP benefits will be charged except if New Parents Services cancels the program. This cancellation policy exists because it is a small workshop with a spot saved especially for you. If you cancel less than a week prior to the workshop we do not have sufficient time to offer the spot to someone else.

CANCELLATION POLICY: There are no refunds within seven (7) calendar days prior to the event. EAP benefits will be charged if applicable.

Confidentiality

While personal sharing is not a requirement of this workshop, at times people do share personal stories that we would ask you to keep confidential. However, group leaders are required by law to report suspected child abuse, elder abuse, and clear, concrete evidence of planned acts of violence.

Risks and Benefits
Talking and discussing parenting issues sometimes include experiencing uncomfortable levels of feelings like sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, and frustration.  Talking has also been shown to have benefits for people.  It often leads to a significant reduction of feelings of distress, and better relationships and resolutions of specific problems.

Concerns
If you have any concerns about your experience in the workshop, address them directly with your workshop leader. If your concerns persist after contacting the workshop leader, contact Veronique Burke, program director at (425)453-7890 x268 or Keith Myers, Vice-President of Clinical & Training Programs at (206)826-3050.

If there is any other information you would like your instructor to know about either of you, your relationship, or your child(ren), please email your workshop leader.
