encouragement for the journey home

 (Psalms of Ascent: Psalm 120 – 134)

Dear Table Fellowship churches, missionaries, and associates,

 Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis being faced by the entire world, we have decided to postpone the 2020 Table Fellowship Conference. We do not do this lightly. We were greatly looking forward to gathering in Spooner, WI. The saints in Spooner were already hard at work planning and preparing for this event. People were making travel plans from places near and far. We trust that we will be able to reschedule sometime this year. However, we do not know how long this crisis will last, therefore we do not, at this time, have dates for a revised schedule. If you have already registered, your money will be refunded.

 The theme of the conference was the “Songs of Ascents” (Psalms 120-134). This is a group of Psalms with the same theme: the often difficult journey we take as travel to our true home. Psalms 121 is something all of need to hear at this time:

 I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber or sleep.

God is not sleeping. He is actively keeping his people! He is keeping us even when we cannot gather.

While we cannot physically gather in April, I am excited that we can be meditating together on the same verses as we read the daily devotionals prepared by the Elders’ Table (the leaders of Table Fellowship). Today, in fact, the first devotional has been sent out.

May Christ build our churches during this time and may he give us his eyes to see and his strength to act. May we see this as a time when we, all of us, moved forward in faith.
