5/11/23 Great Lakes Water Resources hybrid class

(Hybrid): Online thru Zoom and In-person at Tallent Hall, Room 182

The class will briefly outline the geologic history of the Great Lakes and history of development. An overview of present conditions related to natural and human changes.  Musing on the future of the Great Lakes will be explored in the context of societal demands and climate change.

Our presenter: 

JOHN D. SKALBECK, Ph.D.- Dr. Skalbeck is Professor of Geosciences and the Academic Director for the Master of Science in Sustainable Management program.  He joined team at UW-Parkside in 2001.  He earned his B.A. in geology from Gustavus Adolphus College, M.S. in geology/geophysics from Western Washington University, and Ph.D. in hydrogeology from University of Nevada-Reno.   

He currently serves the Chair of the Geoscience Department, Director of the Environmental Studies Program, Academic Director of the Master of Science in Sustainable Management, and UW-Parkside’s NCAA Faculty Athletic Director. He helped develop the Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) in Racine and the Center for Environmental Education, Demonstration, and Applied Research (CEDAR) in Kenosha. Dr. Skalbeck is the Principle Investigator for the Pre-Return Flow Root River Data Collection Project for the City of Waukesha.

This class has the option for in-person or virtual attendance, however, only 40 spots for in-person are available.   Once the 40 in-person slots are filled all additional registrations will be for virtual.  Everyone will receive a virtual link regardless of their choice.  Only those with confirmed in-person registration will be allowed in the classroom due to space limitations.  Please also remember you need to have your parking permit displayed on your vehicle. 

 Please do not attend if you’re feeling ill, particularly symptoms consistent with Covid-19.

Refund policy: refunds will be issued only if the cancellation is received 2 weeks prior to the event deadline stated for each event.

If you pay by credit card, your credit card will be refunded.

If you pay by check you will be issued a university refund check.
