Hearing loss is often a normal part of aging. Correction of a hearing loss requires evaluation by an audiologist with recommendations for the appropriate type of hearing assistance devices. We will learn what an audiologist is and what kind of testing they are trained to do. We will also discover the several types of hearing loss, and the degrees of loss, as well as styles and technologies of hearing aids and what they can do. We’ll also learn about the effects of hearing loss, which can affect us financially, be related to dementia, and the social/emotional consequences.
Our presenter for this class is Doctor Heather Miller, an audiologist affiliated with United Hospital System for over 17 years.
