Fermilab is America’s premier laboratory for particle physics and accelerator research funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Thousands of scientists from universities and laboratories around the world collaborate at Fermilab on experiments at the frontier of discovery.

Particle physicists aim to discover what the universe is made of and how it works. By building some of the largest and most complex machines in the world, scientists at Fermilab expand human kinds understanding of matter, energy, space and time.

Bold innovative ideas and technologies from particle physics have entered the mainstream of society to transform the way we live. From enabling the development of MRI machines to building the first proton accelerator for cancer treatment.

Particle physicists explore the building blocks of matter to answer questions all of us have asked ourselves. How does the universe work? What is it made of? How did it evolve and what will be its fate? What else is out there that we can’t see? Fermilab scientists, engineers, and technicians design and build some of the most sophisticated technology in the world to answer these questions.

Fermilab’s Main Injector particle accelerator creates proton beams in excess of 400 kilometers of power and produces the world’s most intense high-energy neutrino beam.

It will be helpful if you sign up for the physics class on August 28^th for some background.

Schedule:

• The coach leaves Tallent Hall parking lot at 8:30 so be there by 8:15
• Our guided tour starts at 10:30. Wear comfortable shoes.
• At 12:15 we get on the bus and a tour guide will take us around the large park that surrounds the complex. It has restored prairies, lakes, hiking and biking trails and a herd of bison.  
• Lunch is at 1:30 and home about 5:00

Credit card registration fees must be submitted online!

Watch for an email with the registration LINK on or about the 1^st Monday of each month.  Note: as classes fill, members signing up get preference.

Refund policy: refunds will be issued only if the cancellation is received prior to the event deadline stated for each event. 

If you pay by credit card, your credit card will be refunded.

If you pay by check you will be issued a university refund check.
