Register for the 2023 Dysphonia International Symposium
After three years of virtual symposiums, Dysphonia International is returning to an in-person format on April 29, 2023, at Embassy Suites by Hilton Detroit – Livonia/Novi in Michigan. Join us to hear leading experts in spasmodic dysphonia and related voice conditions and have the opportunity to meet others who share a similar experience.

What can you expect if you attend the 2023 Symposium?

  • Be part of the inaugural symposium of Dysphonia International.
  • Meeting new friends at the Welcome Party on Friday evening before the Symposium. Don’t miss the “pass the mic” portion, where you can share your voice journey.
  • If a first-time attendee, or you've been to many symposiums, sign up for the Ambassador Program and have a "buddy" at the meeting.
  • Hear updates on the latest developments, including research, on spasmodic dysphonia from experts in the fields of laryngology and speech and language pathology.
  • Your questions answered during panel discussions with the medical presenters.
  • Attend breakout sessions for more intimate exchanges with other attendees.
  • Sign up for the 2023 Walk for Talk and pick up the latest swag.
  • Fellowship, education, and fun!

While the Symposium will not be live-streamed, we plan to record many of the morning sessions so that they may be viewed after the meeting. The afternoon sessions are focused on smaller breakout sessions and are more interactive.

Our speakers include:
(in order of presentation at the Symposium)

  • Adam Rubin, MD | Lakeshore Professional Voice Center
  • Juliana Cordino, PhD, CCC-SLP | Lakeshore Professional Voice Center
  • Ross Mayerhoff, MD | Henry Ford Health System
  • N. Scott Howard, MD | University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center

Business casual attire is appropriate for the symposium. Since the hotel is air-conditioned, bringing a sweater or jacket is advisable. We cannot control the temperature in the meeting rooms.

Ambassador Program
The Symposium provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with others living with spasmodic dysphonia and related voice conditions. We host an Ambassador Program where first-time attendees are matched with another experienced attendee to help answer questions and be a “point-person” at the symposium. If you have been to a Symposium or similar type meeting, we encourage you to sign up to be an Ambassador on the registration form. A follow-up survey will be sent to you after you register with additional details.

About the Area

Detroit is the largest city in the Midwestern state of Michigan. Near Downtown, the neoclassical Detroit Institute of Arts is famed for the Detroit Industry Murals painted by Diego Rivera and inspired by the city’s ties to the auto industry, giving it the nickname “Motor City.” Detroit is also the birthplace of Motown Records, whose chart-topping history is on display at their original headquarters, Hitsville U.S.A. Livonia is a western suburb of Detroit. https://visitdetroit.com.

We hope you join us for our exciting meeting in the Detroit area!
