Childcare:
Non-separating babies are welcome.
If your child will be with you, please pack quiet, shareable toys. 

On-site childcare will be available at The Heights for $2.50 per 2-hour period. Children must be between the ages of 6 months and 9 years.  You must register for childcare on your registration form, but you will pay the day of the conference.

Additional children's activities with a  caregiver you provide include use of the pool and playground.  Adult caregivers and children over the age of 15 may use the gym.  Special rates do apply and all caregivers and children must register in advance of the conference.  Payment for facility use is direct to The Heights the day of the conference.

Access to pool and gym:  $6/adults, $4/children 2-12
Playground is free but child must be registered.

“Boundaries: Have Them, Love Them” with Suzanne Tucker, PT, CEIM, Parent Educator  
Three powerful practices you can adopt today to ensure you are setting loving limits in place and holding to them. Learn how boundaries actually pull us closer to the ones we love, and why/how intuition is vital to the process. Leave with a newfound ability to listen for and set boundaries with love, while teaching your children to do the same. We'll have fun in this one hour talk, flexing our "no" muscles, that we might say "YES!!!" to more joy in everyday family life.

“The Benefits of Chiropractic Care for the Breastfeeding Mother and Baby” with Dr. Colleen Stratton, DC
Dr. Colleen Stratton, D.C, C.A.C.C.P. explains how chiropractic care can assist breastfeeding and the benefits for both mom and baby.  Dr. Stratton is a member of the Illinois Chiropractic Society, and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.  She holds a position on the Board of Directors of the Edwardsville Region Breastfeeding Task Force.  Dr. Stratton spent 8 years as a birth doula in the St. Louis area providing natural labor support for families.

“Toddlers, Tandem, and Twins Panel Discussion”
Facilitator - Barb Hueffmeier* - LLL Leader for over 39 years and breastfed two sons well past toddlerhood
Molly Taylor* - MSW, nursed twin daughters until 2.5 years old, and LLL Leader for one year
Jen York* -IBCLC, LLL leader for 2 years, mother of 3 boys, and tandem nursed for almost 2 years
Cassie Clubb - BSW, breastfed twins for 1 year and is currently breastfeeding a toddler.
Michelle Edmondson- M.Ed. Early Childhood with Montessori Education Credentials AMS 3-6, mother of 4 children. Currently nursing 2.5 yr old twins.

“Breastfeeding and Intimacy”
with Rhianna Mathias* MSW
Rhianna will address how intimacy relates to both our roles as Nursing Parent and Connected Partner and why these roles may sometimes feel in competition with each other, as well as considerations for managing this time of transition within the family.  Rhianna has been a La Leche League Leader with the mid-city group since 2015. She has a Master of Social Work degree with a clinical focus and previously worked in maternal and child health as a medical social worker. She resides in south city with her husband and their three small children.

“Dodging the Booby Traps and Getting Breastfeeding off to a Great Start!”  with April Woollard*, CBE
Learn what to expect during the early days of breastfeeding.  Common challenges and management techniques will be covered, including how to tell if your newborn is eating enough and  minimizing breastfeeding distractions.  April Woollard is a mother to four amazing children, LLL Leader, Childbirth educator, writer, and former school teacher. She is devoted to helping mothers feel empowered with information and offers compassionate support from pregnancy and birth, to breastfeeding and parenting.

“Breastmilk: An Essential Part of Baby's Immune System” 
with Alisa Williams, RN, MSN, IBCLC 
This presentation will review the nutrient and immune properties of human milk.  It will discuss the protective benefits of breastmilk components in initiating infant health.  Potential long term health benefits related to exposure to immune components in human milk will also be discussed.
 Alisa's  passion is to help mothers accomplish the goal of providing human milk to their babies in whatever way works for them.  She is  a registered nurse and has been working with mothers, babies and families for over 30 years.  She has worked in both the hospital and community setting.  Her areas of expertise are lactation, education, obstetric nursing and staff development.  

“Supporting the Spectrum of Maternal Well-Being:  Beyond the Basics”
with Jamie Bodily MS, LPC, Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula & Emily Webb, MA, PLPC, Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula
This presentation will cover the spectrum of postpartum adjustment from typical, expected adjustment to more challenging postpartum experiences.  We will discuss strategies that promote healthy maternal adjustment and strategies for helping parents when things are not going as well.  Factors that can impact the postpartum time and strategies to utilize in the prenatal period will be discussed.  Learn ideas for helping to ascertain a mom’s adjustment and how to make a referral when professional support is needed. Jamie has  has been a Birth and Postpartum Doula since 2000. She also provides counseling services focused on helping women through their reproductive years. Emily is also a counselor and has been working as a doula since 2010.

“Cultural & Traditional Perspective of Birthing”
with Brittany Tru Campbell, CLC, Certified Labor & Postpartum Doula
Join us as we venture through women's stories coupled with science to discover the art and path of traditional birthing. In this segment we'll learn helpful, healthy and fun traditions for conception, pregnancy, and birth for the modern family. This class is informational, hands on, and may be a bit healing.  Tru is a well-known Doula and Yoga instructor throughout the St. Louis Area and advocate for expectant mothers and children. Since 2009Tru has taught health and wellness seminars and has held women's empowerment circles at various institutions.  Tru was recently accepted to attend the Midwives College of Utah (MCU) and is on her path of obtaining her Associates Degree in Science in becoming the 1st black Certified Professional Midwife in St. Louis.

“Working and Breastfeeding”
with Jennifer Killeen, MSN, RN, CNM & Maria Roeber, CNM, MSN
Learn about combining working and breastfeeding.  This session will cover the importance of establishing a good supply in the early days, what to consider when deciding on childcare, the rights of nursing mothers in the workplace and more!  Jennifer has worked in the field of Women's Health (as an RN in L&D/postpartum and Certified Nurse Midwife) for over 10 years. She is currently a staff midwife at Mercy's Birthing Center.  She also has a two-year old who she nursed while working full-time and is currently expecting baby #2 with the same goals.   Maria is also a midwife at the Mercy Birth Center. Before becoming a midwife she worked as a LDRP nurse at a Baby Friendly hospital where she developed my skills as an advocate for breastfeeding moms.  She recently completed her training as a CLC.

“Helping Mothers with Low Milk Supply”
with Jen York* IBCLC
Understand the reasons for low milk supply, how to get mother on the right path to increasing her supply and how to help when supply isn't increasing.  Jen has been a LLL Leader for two years and recently became an IBCLC.  She is the mother of 3 boys.
