The Hudson County History Advocates have created a series of walking and bus tours of historic areas and neighborhoods in celebration of the County's 175th Anniversary.

The “West New York Walking History Tour” will be led by Danny Klein, a lifelong resident of West New York and librarian at the New Jersey Room of the Jersey City Public Library.

Join us as we take a walk through West New York’s oldest neighborhood and discuss the history of one of the most densely populated places in the United States, taking a look at the town’s religious, business, architectural, educational and sports history and take a look at some of the prominent citizens of West New York’s early days. Points of interest include:

Miller Stadium- including a discussion of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig's visit

Municipal Building and Library - both designed by WNY native William Mayer, Jr.

Bergenline Avenue - West New York's Miracle Mile

Topics for discussion will include WNY's role in the embroidery industry, the oldest churches, Hudson River School artist Andrew Melrose, the Mayfair Theater, Donnelly Park, Schlesinger's, Kaywoodie Pipe factory, and more.

The Tour will begin at 1 p.m., meeting behind Kid's World in the
municipal parking lot behind Bergenline Avenue, off 59th Street.
