Residential Weekend Practice Retreat

With Tergar Instructor Edwin Kelley

Meditation helps us to discover a deep sense of well-being that is not dependent on the circumstances of our lives. When we learn to tame our minds and open our hearts through the practice of meditation, we discover the compassionate wisdom and radiant joy that is our true nature.

This residential retreat will offer a unique opportunity to gather together as a community to deepen and refresh our practice.  In his recent letter while on retreat, Mingyur Rinpoche said: "To all my students .... I ask that you persevere as much as possible in your practice .... and especially if you have time, do as much retreat as you can regardless of how long or short it is."  We are hoping you can join us for this deeper exploration into practice.

Whether you have never done a retreat before or are a seasoned practitioner, this is a good opportunity to taste the benefits of sustained practice.

Schedule

Over the weekend, we will refresh our understanding of awareness meditation and loving-kindness and compassion meditation. The retreat will take place in a secluded environment with the support of a community of meditators.  The daily schedule will include six to eight hours of meditation per day (practiced in twenty to thirty minute sessions), and will incorporate periods of silence, along with video teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche, optional group discussions, and presentations on the key points of meditation by Edwin Kelley.

Location and Meals

The retreat will be held at Dunrovin Retreat Center, located in Marine on St Croix, MN. It offers a secluded and peaceful refuge only 40 minutes from the Twin Cities.

Meals will be vegetarian and any special dietary needs must be mentioned at registration. They will do their best to accommodate within reason.  Registration will begin at 6:00pm.  The first session will be at 7:30 pm.  Please note that no evening meal will be offered on Friday so plan on eating before you arrive or bring your dinner with you.

Room Assignments

The retreat center offers single rooms only. There is also the option of attending as a commuter; the fee can be found at the left.  The retreat center has shared bathrooms segregated by sex.
