Sacred heart MaryPrayer For Our Country

O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.  Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.

Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people.  Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.  Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life.  Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God's law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life.  Amen

Magnificat has helped me to grow spiritually in ways I would never have experienced otherwise!

Thank you for all you do.  You are so appreciated.  I do pray for ya'll everyday!

The blessings the meal has given me today have renewed my spirit which was at a uncomfortably low.  God is Great and so is Magnificat!!

Not enough paper to tell you what it [Magnificat] has meant in my life.

Love seeing all the beautiful ladies from across the diocese!

Filled with faith-full moments

You are wonderful.  It is good that Magnificat exists to hold together Catholic women.  Do not get discouraged, ever!

The service team is doing an amazing job, keep up the great work!!!!  (thanks, we feel the same way about our Advisory team of ladies and volunteers that help us in so many ways.  The meals wouldn't be a success without them.)

I love all "you-all" do for Mary and her children.

[She] was a very pleasant and welcoming hostess.  I brought my [guests], all from different or no churches, and they all felt welcome.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks ladies! Your comments are a blessing to all of us!

invites you to our

April 27th  Prayer Breakfast

About our Speaker:

Sister Karen Ann Lortscher, O.S.B.

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” — Colossians 3:12

Sister Karen Ann, Development Director at Benedictine Sisters of Cullman, Alabama, has been a Benedictine sister for thirty-four years. God called her to care for the needs of His people by witnessing community, receiving guests, and working for peace and justice. Among Sister’s many gifts are her compassion and openness to persons of all ages and backgrounds. She has a talent for accepting people unconditionally where they are as she affirms and encourages their growth.

Sister received a B.A. in Dramatic Arts from Agnes Scott College and a M.A. in Education from UAB. She has been a pre-kindergarten, first and second grade teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Cullman. While working at Sacred Heart Elementary, Sister also taught dance to students in grades 1 through 4 as part of the Physical Education program. While Vocation/Formation Director for the Benedictine Sisters of Cullman from 1999 – 2003, Sister Karen Ann restructured the Benedictine Sisters’ vocation ministry resulting in an increased outreach to teens and young adults.

As Campus Minister for ten years to St. Stephen Catholic University Chapel, she served over 21,000 college students and promoted a concern for social justice among student leaders and church members by leading volunteer groups at the Catholic Center of Concern, First Light Shelter, Firehouse Shelter, and Project Homeless Connect. She accompanied students on three week-long mission/immersion trips to St. Bonaventure Indian Mission at Eastern Navajo Reservation in New Mexico and wrote blogs about the trips. As a member and chair of the Benedictine Sisters of Peace and Justice Committee, Sister has participated in demonstrations against nuclear weapons, the second Iraq War, Alabama anti-immigration bill/law, and capital punishment. In her spare time, Sister Karen Ann has volunteered with the Literacy Council of Alabama.

Please join us for a breakfast of fellowship and celebration, meet Sister Karen Ann, and listen to her describe her dynamic journey with the Lord as she shares her love, faith, and zeal for her work among the Lord’s people.
