Prayer For Our Country
O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care. Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.
Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people. Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life. Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God's law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life. Amen

About Our Speaker:
Bishop Emeritus David E. Foley
"Praise the Lord, who is good, God's love endures forever." Psalm 136:1
Called the "happy bishop" by St. John Paul II, we are privileged to announce our speaker, Bishop Emeritus David E. Foley. He is well known and loved in this diocese as a shepherd for his people. He was installed as Bishop of Birmingham in 1994 and is presently Bishop Emeritus of our diocese since his retirement in 2005. Magnificat came to fruition in Birmingham with his permission in 1996. The bishop taught the catechism of the Catholic Church for six years on the EWTN live show, "Pillars of Faith."
Bishop Foley was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. The family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1934. The youngest of three boys, he lived two blocks from the Blessed Sacrament Church with his devout Catholic parents. At age four, he was dedicated to the Blessed Mother by the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Bishop Foley attended St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland and was ordained in 1956.
The bishop's testimony of praise will trace God's enduring love in the history of his life from the moment of his birth, early vocation, seminary, years of priestly ministry and as a bishop. He will share the spiritual life of his mind and heart, describing how the Lord has loved and favored him every minute of every day. Throughout his life, he has experienced the exceptional love of God and has had few, if any, struggles or sorrows.
Bishop Foley says the companion for his faith journey has been Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, and queen of his heart. His testimony will demonstrate her mystical and powerful influence at telling moments of his life. He is depending on her love and intercession to bring him safely home.
Come join in celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our Magnificat Chapter, Mary, Woman of Faith, and the 60th Anniversary of Bishop Foley as a priest. Together with grateful hearts, we will "Praise the Lord, who is good, God's love endures forever." Psalm 136:1

Online payment is available for $16.00 (includes the convenience fee) using PayPal with a credit or debit card. You may also purchase additional tickets for any guests you would like to bring to the meal. When your transaction is complete you may print your online ticket from your computer.
Tickets by mail are available from our Ticket Chairwoman.

a check made out to "Magnificat" for the number of tickets ordered,
and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

Tickets by mail are $15.00 per person. Your request must be postmarked by
January 22, 2016 to allow adequate time to receive your ticket.
Tickets for priests and religious are complimentary, but reservations are required
and this may be done online or by contacting Donna Chmielarski at 205-408-0308.
If you are unable to afford a ticket but want to attend the meal, please call Donna and arrangements will be made for a ticket to be sent to you.

No tickets are sold at the door.
Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for open seating .
The Rosary will be prayed prior to the meal at 10:15 a.m. in a designated room.
Confessions will be available at the end of the meal.
Religious books, gifts and CD's are available for purchase at the end of the meal.
Since the day is designed to speak to our hearts, free of distractions, it is respectfully requested that young children under the age of 14 not be in attendance.
