Prayer For Our Country
O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care. Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.
Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people. Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life. Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God's law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life. Amen

About Our Speaker:
Melinda McNamee
“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) has been a touchstone in the spiritual journey of Melinda McNamee. Through joyful times and difficult days, she has been strengthened by the wisdom contained in this powerful message.
A lifelong resident of Birmingham, Melinda was raised Methodist in a faith-filled family. After marrying Charles, a cradle Catholic, she began to explore Catholicism, a religion she had felt drawn to her entire life. Inquisitive by nature, she sought answers and joined the RCIA program. Melinda now avows that she was “born to be Catholic.” She and Charles have been blessed with three children, five grandchildren and the recent celebration of their 40th anniversary.
After her son suffered a traumatic brain injury at age seventeen, Melinda recalls remaining in a “state of calm grace.” As she grew in her trust of the Lord, another scripture verse became very important: “For I know well the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Melinda is active in St. Francis Xavier Parish, where she has served as chairperson for the church garage sale, “Tossed and Found,” and is a member of the Tuesday Morning Women’s Fellowship. Both of these ministries have been powerful church community builders. She has been active in the Cursillo community since 1987, serving on many weekend teams and on the Diocesan Secretariat.
Come hear Melinda testify to the powerful works the Lord has performed in her life.
