Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion Course (1 Day)

Wednesday 26th June 2019 

This Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion (MHFA) internationally recognised course is for anyone who works with or supports young people aged 8-18. It will teach you an understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people.  Additionally, it will enable you to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support.  It will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness, plus develop your skills to support positive wellbeing. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid Champions will have an understanding 

  • What is mental health and mental ill health?
  • Stigma and discrimination
  • The Mental Health First Aid action plan
  • Depression
  • Suicide
  • Anxiety
  • Self-harm
  • Eating disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Recovery
  • Resilience
  • Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing
  • You will have the opportunity to learn in a safe high quality training environment, where learning is enjoyable.

What to expect

We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can ensure that attendees are supported while they learn. 

Learning takes place across two manageable sessions. Through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions, each session is built around a Youth Mental Health First Aid action plan.
