Supporting Children & Young People Experiencing Social, Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties (SEMHD)

Pupils experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMHD) is onthe increase according to Governement statistics and are often at higher risk of exclusion. Some recent research has indicated that exclusion can further contribute to the pupil's mental health difficulties. Therefore the earlier the identification, the earlier support, strategies and interventions can be implemented to address the needs, thus reducing the pupil's distress and risk of exlcusion.
Therefore this course aims to provide you with an understanding of SEMHD in children and young people. It will explore the impact to the pupil and their learning and will offer you effective strategies & interventions to assist children and young people.
