About the Christl Burgress Memorial Fund
The Christl Burgess Memorial Fund at Loyola was established by the husband and family of the late Christl Weis Burgess. With the establishment of this endowment in Mrs. Burgess’s name the family is supporting research, education and patient care initiatives designed to promote earlier detection and diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is the most lethal cancer affecting women. There are over 21,0000 new cases diagnosed each year; 75% are discovered at an advanced stage. Approximately 14,000 – 16,000 women die annually from this disease.
